Why Formulas in Eastern Herbs?

Why Chinese/ Eastern herbal medicine or remedies?

Herbal Medicine is the epitomy of eastern culture which can impart valuable legacies to western society. She is many notches above popular chinese dishes. With more than 2500 years of rich clinical wisdom and philosophical underpinnings, she is the most effective medicine for many symptoms, some of which even modern medicine cannot manage. Under the hands of a truely learned herbalist, Nearly wondrous results can be born, unimaginable from the perspectives of simple natural home remedies. Eastern herbal medicine is a complete system of knowledge that cannot be mastered without decades of clinical experiences and cannot be transmitted via an internet.( One cannot transmit the true heart of the paintings of Picasso by internet! ) Being both a western medical doctor and an experienced herbalist, Physicians herbal formula understands the exact merits and deficiencies in each system, and knows in what symptom complexes the eastern medicine is more effective or work together with western drugs. Physicians herbal formulas made thoughtful modifications and additions to classic herbal formulas to most effectively manage the complex symptomologies of modern men and women.

Why Formulas?

Instead of a herb? One natural herb cannot address all the disorders ( " imbalances in Qi and Blood, or Yin and Yang" ) in a " syndrome " ( Semiequivalent term in biomedicine is disease, though they are not the same). Different herbs must be coordinated to rebalance your disordered systems. A Formula is like a special force made up of a commander and fighters. A formula is natural, holistic herbal medicine healing a whole person. The difference between a formula and a herb is like a well designed cuisine versus a slab of steak only.

Why herbal Formulas? instead of a herbal extract or 500mg of coenzyme Q or 5 tablets of  5 similar antioxidants? One natural herb or one biochemical or a simple collection of biochemically similar molecules cannot address all the pathogenetic mechanisms or disorder ( " imbalances in bioenergies called Qi, Blood, Yin, and Yang" ) behind a " syndrome " causing X symptom/s. ( A semiequivalent term for syndrome in biomedicine is disease, though disease is an anatomical definition, not an energetic one ). Different herbs must be coordinated to rebalance one's disordered systems. A Formula is like a special force made up of a commander and fighters each with a different role. A syndrome is diagnosed by a careful analysis of symptoms represented by the algorithms. If an eastern herbal formula is a match for one's syndrome, she may produce wondrous results.

There are pitfalls in using only a single herbal extract . Even Herbs tested by medical research such as " adaptogenic " astralgus, ginseng, or ginkgo, etc. among many, will lead to imbalances in bioenergy, if used a long term singularly, and may cause " heat build up " and dry mouth, headache, dizziness, etc. Seemingly innocuous Ginger is contraindicated in cough due to bronchitis with dark sputum.  Astralgus, ginseng, and ginger are all warm herbs producing heat. When taken by individuals with much heat inside already, "overheating " effects may result in symptoms. Even " foods" cause imbalances. Overeating sugar and dairy products chronically causes " sticky" water metabolism, and may result in overproduction of phlegms. Restoring the balances of bioenergies are the only  healing natural remedies.
